2011 Festival

The London Street Photography Festival had its inaugural run in July 2011 to outstanding critical acclaim. The festival enjoyed high visitor numbers to its many prestigious partner venues and received a wide range of mainstream press coverage.

2011 HIGHLIGHTS

  • LSPF hosted the first UK exhibition of Vivian Maier: a Life Uncovered, listed by the Observer and Culture Critic as one of the top 10 photography exhibitions in the UK in 2011
  • 30,000 people visited 14 exhibitions and 2,500 people attended events and workshops
  • The festival received nine major broadsheet features (Independent, Guardian, Times, New York Times) and a five-star review in the Evening Standard
  • Four galleries reported record visitor numbers as a result of the festival
  • Our website received 500,000 visits in 2011 and we expect 750,000 in 2012 and 1,000,000 in 2013.
  • Focusing on the policing of public streets by private security firms, our Stand Your Ground documentary went viral and was seen by over 200,000 people worldwide. The film contributed to the I'm a Photographer Not a Terrorist campaign, which led to new government guidance being issued to private security firms in November 2011.
