INTERNATIONAL AWARD Judging criteria
- Please adhere to the festival's definition of street photography
- Photographs can be taken anywhere in the world
- Photographs may not be staged or posed by models
- Photographs do not need to include people but should at the very least imply human existence
- Photographs must be taken in the public realm (for example: streets, subways, museums, beaches, parks, events, countryside etc.)
- Images do not need to form a set or tell a story but submissions will be judged as a body of work and not as individual photos. Submit a group of images or single images.
- You may enter only one award either the International Award or the Student Award
- Images should be a minimum of 2000 pixels in width/height at 72 dpi and no more than 7 megabytes in size.
- NOTE ON COPYRIGHT - the images remain the property of the author and LFPH require a license to use the images in relation to the awards and promotion of the awards only. Any other usage we will always ask the photographer first.
- You must adhere to the rules of entry below:
Rules of entry
- LFPH reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify and remove any Entry that does not comply with the following requirements, even after Your Entry is Submitted to the Website.
- You agree to fully indemnify LFPH in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of Your breaching the following requirements, even after Your Entry is Submitted to the Website.
- By entering the Awards You hereby accept these Competition Rules and the Terms and Conditions.
- The Award is open to all members of the public aged 18 and over on the date of submission.
- By entering the Award, You agree and acknowledge that LFPH is permitted to receive Your registration data. All personal information will be used by LFPH in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
- The entrant must be the sole owner and author of each Submission.
- Copyright of the photos remains with the photographer – the London Street Photography Festival recognises that the entrant, the author of the photograph, retains complete and full ownership of the copyright in each submission. Shoot Experience and the LFPH support Pro-Imaging's Bill of Rights to protect the right's of photographers.
- Entrants are asked to accept that any image submitted to the Awards may be used by Shoot Experience and the London Street Photography Festival to enable the delivery of Awards through the London Street Photography Festival and for future publicity and marketing purposes for up to five years. The entrant hereby grants Shoot Experience/LFPH a non-exclusive, irrevocable license in each submission throughout the world for five years in all media for any use connected to the promotion of the Awards and the festival, but not limited to: (a) judging the Awards, (b) public exhibitions promoting the Awards and Shoot Experience/LFPH, (c) inclusion within any materials promoting the Awards, Shoot Experience/LFPH or any exhibition organised by Shoot Experience/LFPH, in the promotion of Shoot Experience/LFPH, but not limited to: the Website, a book, magazine or publication, (d) inclusion on Shoot Experience/LFPH related products (i.e an Awards catalogue) to be sold by Shoot Experience/LFPH or any third party (I.e Blurb.com) following an individual agreement by the Author("You"), (e) sub-licensing the Entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the Awards and any exhibition, (f) allowing viewers of the Website to view images on a computer screen, mobile devices and store such pages in electronic form on disk or mobile device for their personal, non-commercial use only.
- LFPH will not tolerate or accept any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libelous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, inflammatory, pornographic or profane content. Any Entry deemed to be of such a nature will be immediately removed from the Website.
- Entrants may submit colour and/or black and white photographs taken up to ten years before the start of the awards (after 1 September 2001)
- Entrants' photos must be uploaded to the LFPH Website by no later than 6pm (BST) on 12 January 2012. Any photos submitted after this time will not be considered for entry.
- You may NOT submit watermarked images with your name or website visible on the photo. Please DO NOT frame your images with borders.
- Winners and finalists will be informed by email and announced on the Website on 20 March 2012.
- Entry costs £30 per person and entrants must submit between five to eight photographs.
- You may enter the competition only once.
- Entrants' photographs must be of a reasonably large file size and of high quality (at least 2000px at 72dpi) maximum size seven megabytes each. Entrants photos must be in JPEG format.
- All entrants must be able to supply a high resolution image (300dpi) suitable for printing in media and an exhibition should the image be chosen for the final selection.
- You agree to participate in related publicity and to the use of Your name and likeness for the purposes of advertising, promotion and publicity without additional compensation.
- All correspondence will be made through the email address and telephone number provided at the time of registration.
- Shoot Experience employees, advisors and judges may not enter the Awards.
- You MAY NOT add or remove elements from your photographs. Entrants MAY crop a photo and perform colour corrections and processing in keeping with a realistic representation of the subject. You MAY change an image from colour to black and white. Extreme photo manipulation, stitching and combining of images is forbidden. High Dynamic Range (HDR) photos are allowed as long as the components of the final images are made at the same time. Please indicate in the caption if your image is HDR.
- The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- All payments are non refundable.
- Winners must hold a valid passport and be eligible to travel to the UK during the festival. Winners will be responsible for arranging visas and travel insurance if required, although LFPH will endeavour to assist with this process if needed.
- Travel and full board accommodation for two-nights are included in the first prize up to the value of £1,000. Should expenses equal less than £1,000, the remainder will NOT be added to the cash prize. The winner must be able to travel to London for the exhibition opening at the beginning of June 2012.
- All travel and accomodation will be booked by the festival and is non-transferrable. The trip is non-transferable. Should the first prize winner not be able to travel to the festival, the trip will be offered to the second prize winner. Should the second prize winner not be able to travel the trip costs will not be transferred to either winner.
- LFPH assumes no responsibility for any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in the Award, and LFPH assumes no responsibility for technical, hardware or software failure of any kind, for lost network connections, corrupt transmissions, other problems or technical malfunctions with regard to the Award. LFPH assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, corruption, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of Entries. LFPH is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail addressed to LFPH on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the internet or any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to Your or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the Competition. If for any reason a contestant’s entry cannot be viewed or is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer viruses, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud or technical failures, LFPH assumes no responsibility.
- In no event will LFPH, its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries and related companies, Event Partners, its advertising or promotion agencies, or its officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives or agents be responsible or liable for any damages or losses of any kind, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages arising out of any contestant’s access to and use of the Website. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, everything on the Website is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose or use or non-infringement.
- LFPH reserves the right to disqualify (without refund) any participant on reasonable grounds at its discretion.
- We DO NOT sell your images however, selected finalists are asked if they would like to enter into a PRINT SALE agreement with the festival. Selected finalists are also asked to donate an image(s) to an annual fundraising event. Both of these offers are optional.
