In this increasingly digital age, this workshop is an opportunity to engage with one of the original forms of photography and rediscover the darkroom.  Using pinhole cameras the participants will create unique images that capture the contemporary urban environment.

The day will begin with a slide show presentation of artists who work with pinhole photography.  This will be followed by demonstrations and an introduction to the darkroom where you will learn how to develop your prints.  The rest of the workshop is then dedicated to investigating the local area, either individually or in groups, and creating original photographs of your explorations.  Madaleine will be joined by an assistant and the workshop will be limited to 10 people, ensuring that it is an intimate experience.  The day will finish with an informal sharing of the photographs and an opportunity to exhibit these at the Centre for Creative Collaboration.

Who is this for?
• This workshop is ideal for anyone who is disillusioned with digital media and wants to reconnect with the art of photography, creating distinctive, tangible prints.
• Those who are willing to experiment
• Previous experience in the darkroom is not necessary.

Please note that in the darkroom you will be working with chemicals.  However these are at safe dilutions and gloves/tongs are provided.

All materials are included and tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.

Madaleine Trigg is a visual artist, performer and photographer who engages with numerous techniques in the manipulation of the image, including camera-less photography, alternative photographic processes and holographic projections. tThe hologram of her performance piece, Sutre, was exhibited at this year’s Kinetica Art Fair.  Madaleine’s work has also recently been exhibited at the Prague Quadrennial, where she represented the UK in the Extreme Costume Exhibition.  Her latest project is a solo performance for the darkroom, which features an original text by Alan Fielden.  Madaleine is an artist in residence at the Centre for Creative Collaboration. Madaleine’s photographs have been exhibited at the Prague Quadrennial, the ICA, the Rag Factory and Shunt Lounge.
